What's Happening?
The PEI BioAlliance, a prominent bioscience industry group based in Charlottetown, has announced the appointment of Lauren Ledwell as its new CEO. Ledwell takes over from Rory Francis, the founding CEO, who is retiring after two decades of leadership. Prior to this role, Ledwell was a principal at Sandpiper Ventures, where she spearheaded investments in tech startups across Canada. Her career also includes significant roles at Manulife, RBC, and Maple Leaf Foods, as well as leading Discovery Garden, a digital archiving company. Additionally, Ledwell is a co-founder of the Women’s Equity Lab in Atlantic Canada and serves on the board of Venture for Canada. The PEI BioAlliance, established in 2005, is a non-profit organization that supports the bioscience industry in Prince Edward Island through its Emergence incubator, which has backed over 50 companies generating substantial revenue and exports.
