What's Happening?
Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) is actively funding the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) chargers and hydrogen refuelling stations across the country. Since 2016, over $1 billion has been invested to make EVs more affordable and chargers more accessible, supporting a coast-to-coast network. The program aims to address the lack of charging stations by increasing localized opportunities for charging and refuelling. ZEVIP funding is available through various streams, including public places, workplaces, and multi-unit residential buildings, with contributions limited to 50% of total project costs. The program has been extended to 2027, with a target of deploying 84,500 chargers and 45 hydrogen stations by 2029.
