Manchester Airport has announced the receipt of £4.5 million in government funding to support the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) at the Stanlow site. This funding is part of a larger £63 million initiative by the Department for Transport aimed at accelerating SAF production across the UK. The funding will be shared among 17 projects, supporting up to 1,400 jobs. Essar and NorthPointe Energy, both involved in SAF production at Stanlow, will utilize the funds to enhance the existing pipeline supplying aviation fuel to Manchester Airport. The airport aims to achieve net zero operations by 2038 and is collaborating with airlines to increase SAF usage.
