IperionX, an American titanium manufacturer, has been awarded $12.5 million by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to bolster the nation's defense industrial base. This funding is part of a larger $47.1 million award announced in February 2025, aimed at establishing a robust and cost-effective titanium supply chain within the United States. The funds will be used to expand IperionX's Virginia Titanium Manufacturing Campus, increasing its annual production capacity to over 1,000 metric tons. The expansion will include upgrades to titanium deoxygenation, sintering, and powder metallurgy systems, as well as infrastructure improvements. The DoD plans to allocate the remaining $29.6 million over the contract term to further enhance production capabilities.
