The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 3.6 million HydroTech-branded 'Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses' following reports of the hoses bursting during use. These incidents have resulted in 29 injuries, including bone bruises, sprains, and temporary hearing impairment due to the noise of the burst. The hoses, sold at major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and Target, were available from January 2021 to April 2025. The recall is voluntary and involves hoses manufactured on or before August 31, 2024. The inner liner of the hose can expand and burst if the strain relief breaks or becomes unthreaded, according to HydroTech's website. The hoses were sold in various lengths and colors, and consumers are advised to stop using them immediately.
