Vietnam and Japan are collaborating on a new initiative to launch a circular cassava production model aimed at enhancing sustainability and increasing the value of cassava, one of Vietnam's key exports. The project, a partnership between Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, is set to begin in September. It will focus on improving the value, quality, and sustainability of Vietnam's cassava industry, which is a significant source of income for smallholder farmers and a staple food in rural regions. The initiative will incorporate advanced technologies such as sensors, satellites, and drones for smart soil health monitoring and crop management. A major goal is to develop a sustainable supply chain for cassava starch that supports carbon storage and promotes eco-friendly farming practices.
