John Wood Community College Launches Advanced Manufacturing Program with Regional Employers
John Wood Community College (JWCC) has initiated the Great River FAME program, an earn-while-you-learn workforce initiative aimed at training skilled manufacturing technicians. During a recent ceremony at the JWCC Workforce Development Center, eight students signed letters of intent with six regional manufacturing partners. These students will work three days a week with their sponsoring employers while attending classes at the college two days a week. The program offers an Associate in Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, covering topics such as manufacturing principles, automation, robotics, and workplace safety. The initiative is a collaboration between JWCC, FAME USA, the Great River Economic Development Foundation, and regional employers including ADM, DOT Foods, Gardner Denver, General Mills, Knapheide, and Titan International.
