Rescue Operation Successfully Retrieves Injured Hiker from Mount Si in Washington
An emergency rescue operation was conducted to save an injured hiker who fell 50 feet from the summit of Mount Si in Washington state. The incident occurred at Haystack Rock, a popular spot on the mountain, where the hiker may have sustained a head injury. The King County Sheriff Air Support team led the challenging rescue mission, which was complicated by adverse weather conditions including cloud cover, wind, and snow at an elevation of 4,100 feet. Once the weather cleared, the team was able to reach the hiker, who was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Mount Si, located about 35 miles east of Seattle, is a well-known hiking destination, attracting over 100,000 hikers annually. The trail is noted for its steep ascent and scenic views, making it a favorite among both novice and experienced hikers.
