Gary, Indiana, Residents Receive Free Water Amid Storm Recovery Efforts
Community organizations in Gary, Indiana, distributed over 500 cases of bottled water to residents still recovering from recent storms. The giveaway, held at the City Life Center of Northwest Indiana, was a collaborative effort between On Third Affordable Food Outreach and the City Life Center. Dr. Joshua Austin, executive director of City Life Center, emphasized the center's role as a vital hub for providing food, drinks, and other resources to the community for the past two weeks following the storms. The bottled water was donated by various corporate and community partners, including NIPSCO and Premium Waters, highlighting a collective response to assist affected residents. This initiative underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the community in the aftermath of severe weather events.
