Santa Fe is commemorating the centennial of Route 66, despite its brief historical connection to the famous highway. Originally part of the route from 1926 to 1937, Santa Fe's alignment was bypassed in favor of a more direct path through Albuquerque. The city is celebrating with exhibits at the New Mexico History Museum, Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, and Museum of Art. The celebration focuses on the cultural and historical significance of Route 66, highlighting its impact on American road trips and roadside culture.
