Tropical Storm Edouard Expected to Strengthen Before Gulf Coast Landfall
Tropical Storm Edouard is currently located at 28.8°N, 92.5°W, approximately 85 miles (135 km) southeast of Cameron, Louisiana, and 115 miles (185 km) southeast of Port Arthur, Texas. The storm is moving west-northwest at 7 mph (11 km/h) with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h). The National Hurricane Center (NHC) forecasts that Edouard will strengthen and could approach hurricane strength before making landfall along the northwest Gulf Coast later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend up to 25 miles (35 km) from the storm's center, and the minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). A Storm Surge Warning, Hurricane Watch, and Tropical Storm Warning are in effect for parts of Texas and Louisiana.
