Denver to Experience Cooler Temperatures and Afternoon Thunderstorms
Denver is set for a cooler Monday with mostly cloudy skies and a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms later in the day, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. The high temperature is expected to reach 85°F (29°C), which is significantly cooler than the record high of 98°F (36.7°C) for August 31, last recorded in 2011. Winds will shift from south-southwest at 5-7 mph to east by late morning, with gusts up to 15 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread by mid-afternoon, moving from the mountains to the Denver metro area and eastern Colorado plains by late afternoon or early evening. Rain and thunderstorm activity may persist through midnight and into the early hours of Tuesday.
