Tech CEO Charged with Concealing Russian Ownership and Lying to U.S. Secret Service
Lee Reiber, CEO of Oxygen Forensics, a Virginia-based tech firm, has been arrested and charged with helping to conceal the company's Russian ownership and development from U.S. authorities. Prosecutors allege that Reiber, a former police officer, falsely represented to government agencies that Oxygen Forensics had no foreign ownership or control and that its software was developed in the U.S. In reality, five Russian nationals allegedly owned and controlled the company through a Cyprus-based holding company, with software development occurring in Russia. This alleged deception allowed Oxygen Forensics to secure over $2 million in contracts with sensitive U.S. federal government agencies, including the Secret Service, the Department of War, Homeland Security Investigations, and the DHS Office of Inspector General.
