Heat and Storms Impact Travel Across U.S. Regions
Weather conditions across the U.S. are creating challenges for travelers as heat and storms persist in several regions. The Southwest and Plains, including Texas, are experiencing extreme heat with temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to triple digits. Meanwhile, repeated rounds of heavy rain in the Appalachians and Southeast are causing localized flash flooding, particularly during afternoon and evening commutes. Thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread from the Four Corners to the northern Plains, fueled by tropical moisture. Additionally, the Great Lakes region will see increased rain and storm activity over the weekend. Flyers may encounter faster eastward travel due to jet stream winds, while westward flights may face delays from headwinds.
