Al-Ula Archaeological Discoveries Highlight Ancient Trade and Cultural Exchange
Al-Ula, located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, is a region rich in archaeological treasures, including AlUla Old Town, which served as the capital of the Dadanite and Lihyanite Kingdoms. This area flourished between the 8th and 1st centuries BCE, playing a crucial role in the ancient Incense Road trade route. The site features a grand temple dedicated to Dhu Ghaybah and numerous tombs carved into sandstone cliffs, such as the Lion Tombs, which are believed to symbolize power and prestige. Despite its historical significance, only a small portion of Dadan has been excavated, suggesting that future archaeological work could yield significant new discoveries.
