Hawk Fire in Reno: 47 Homes Destroyed, 27% Contained
The Hawk Fire, a human-caused wildfire in Reno, Nevada, has destroyed 47 homes and burned 15,067 acres since it began on Saturday. As of Tuesday afternoon, containment was at 27%, allowing approximately 9,000 residents to return to their homes east of State Route 395. However, 5,000 people remain evacuated, particularly from areas west of the highway, which were hardest hit. Officials have praised the absence of fatalities despite the fire's rapid spread, covering six miles within 24 hours. Investigations into the fire's cause are ongoing, with authorities suspecting human involvement due to its remote origin and lack of natural triggers like lightning.
