Dimitris Daskalopoulos Donates 51 Artworks to Greek and Scottish Museums, Continuing Philanthropic Campaign
Greek entrepreneur Dimitris Daskalopoulos has donated 51 artworks, primarily by Greek artists, from his personal collection to four museums in Greece and Scotland. This donation is part of an ongoing philanthropic initiative aimed at making contemporary art more accessible to wider audiences. The National Gallery of Greece will receive 29 works from the 1960s to the 1990s by Greek artists such as Io Angeli and Yiannis Spyropoulos. MOMUS–Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki will acquire 16 works by artists including Subodh Gupta and Seth Price. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete will receive three pieces by artists like Nobuko Tsuchiya, while National Galleries Scotland will gain three works by artists such as Mike Kelley and Bruce Nauman. This initiative seeks to ensure the long-term preservation of the works and foster dialogue with future art, according to a statement.
