Saratoga Race Course Barn Fire Deemed Suspicious, Investigation Underway
A fire at Barn 72, Gate 21 of the Saratoga Race Course has been ruled suspicious by officials. The incident occurred on the evening of July 21, 2026, when the Saratoga Springs Fire Department responded to reports of smoke emanating from the barn. Firefighters discovered a small fire involving hay in the loft area, which had already been extinguished by a New York Racing Association Fire Marshal using a portable fire extinguisher. No structural damage was reported, and only one individual required medical evaluation on-site. The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
