Scott Remer, Full-Time Spelling Bee Coach, Influences National Champions with High Fees
Scott Remer is recognized as the only full-time professional coach for participants in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Known for his high fees, Remer charges up to $180 per hour for private lessons and takes a percentage of the winnings if his students place in the top 10. His coaching has been instrumental in the success of several champions, including Dev Shah and Faizan Zaki, who won the competition in recent years. Remer, who has coached five national champions, is noted for his intense and demanding coaching style, which some find prohibitive due to cost.
