North Korean Hackers Breach Hundreds of Global Networks, Raising Security Concerns
A cybersecurity researcher, Vangelis Stykas, has uncovered extensive hacking operations by North Korean cyber operatives, affecting 1,640 companies across 57 countries. These operations have targeted a wide range of organizations, including tech firms, hospitals, and financial institutions. Stykas, who has been monitoring these activities for nearly two years, revealed that the hackers have gained root access to critical systems, including Amazon Web Services and blockchain keys. The breaches have been particularly damaging to around 700 to 800 organizations. Stykas will present his findings at the Black Hat security conference, highlighting the scale and sophistication of North Korea's cyber operations. The breaches have led to significant security concerns, with companies like Boston Children's Hospital and Coinbase taking immediate action to mitigate potential risks.
