DeKalb County Teacher Dies Rescuing Girl from Rip Current in Myrtle Beach
Derrick Moore, a 47-year-old teacher from DeKalb County, Georgia, tragically drowned while saving a young girl caught in a rip current off Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The incident occurred on Friday evening, and Moore's body was recovered the following morning nearly a mile from where he entered the water. Moore, who worked as a health and physical education teacher at Rockbridge Elementary School, was described as a selfless and dedicated educator. The girl he saved survived, though her condition has not been updated. This heroic act has left a deep impact on his family, colleagues, and community.
