GLP-1 Drug Use in the U.S. Quadruples, Impacting Obesity Rates
The use of GLP-1 drugs, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, for weight loss in the United States has nearly quadrupled over the past two years. A recent Gallup survey indicates that 11% of U.S. adults are currently using these medications, up from 3% in 2024. The increased use of GLP-1 drugs coincides with a decline in national obesity rates, which have fallen from a peak of 39.9% in 2022 to 36.4% in 2026. The market for GLP-1 drugs has expanded with new entrants like Eli Lilly's Zepbound and Mounjaro, further driving the popularity of these treatments.
