Sagrada Família Completes Final Tower as Pope Prepares Inauguration
Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Família in Barcelona has completed its 18th and final tower, the Tower of Jesus Christ, marking a symbolic completion of the basilica. The construction, which began in 1882, has been ongoing for 144 years. Pope Leo XIV is set to bless the tower on June 10, the centennial of Gaudí’s death, during a mass attended by Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Despite this milestone, construction is expected to continue for another decade to complete additional features.
