EF3 Tornado Strikes Wisconsin, 68 Injured
The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded Monday's tornado in Wisconsin to an EF3, with peak winds reaching 145 mph (233 km/h). The tornado caused significant damage across a 12.1-mile (19.5 km) path from Appleton to Menasha, with a maximum width of 1,500 yards (1.37 km). Businesses and homes suffered severe damage, particularly near Highway 10 in Menasha, where a house was destroyed. The tornado lasted 26 minutes before dissipating over Lake Winnebago. Emergency crews have completed primary and secondary searches of the affected areas, and no fatalities have been reported. However, 68 people sustained injuries, with 40 treated at ThedaCare in Neenah and 28 at St. Elizabeth’s in Appleton. Power outages and a boil water advisory remain in effect for parts of the region.
