Homeowners Report Greater Financial Satisfaction Than Renters Despite Widespread Overspending, Survey Reveals
A new survey by Clever Real Estate indicates that 68% of homeowners are satisfied with their financial situation, a significantly higher percentage compared to 47% of non-homeowners. This satisfaction persists even as mortgage costs and other living expenses reach new highs, and a substantial portion of consumers admit to overspending. The report highlights that 42% of homeowners live paycheck to paycheck, which is lower than the 61% of non-homeowners in the same situation. While overspending is a common issue, with 49% of self-described overspenders owning a home, the survey suggests that homeownership remains a key factor in building wealth and long-term financial security. The study also found that purchasing a home by age 30 can lead to a 22.5% higher net worth by age 50. Despite the financial commitment, the perceived stability and wealth-building potential of homeownership contribute to greater financial contentment among property owners.
