International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific Collaborates with FAO to Document Cooperative Impact on Agrifood Systems
The International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) has collaborated with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to publish 'Voices of Cooperators.' This book compiles first-hand accounts from over 70 cooperators across the Near East and North Africa, detailing their experiences in agrifood systems. The publication highlights how cooperative models address challenges such as food insecurity, climate shocks, and economic uncertainty in the region. It showcases cooperatives' roles in promoting gender equality, water management, youth engagement, market access, and financial inclusion. Examples include beekeepers in Saudi Arabia sharing innovations, women's agricultural cooperatives in Jordan confronting scarcity, and a cooperative in Sudan maintaining a community kitchen during conflict.
