Catalonia's Human Towers Welcome Pope Leo XIV in Barcelona
Pope Leo XIV was greeted by Catalonia's famous human tower climbers, known as 'castells', during his visit to Barcelona. The Castellers de Vilafranca performed at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium as part of the pope's prayer vigil. Human towers are a significant cultural tradition in Catalonia, symbolizing strength, teamwork, and community. The performance was attended by approximately 40,000 people, showcasing the region's cultural pride and the pope's influence in bringing together diverse communities.
