Canadian Man Pleads Guilty to Cybercrime Involving Snowflake Data Breaches
Connor Riley Moucka, a 26-year-old Canadian, has pleaded guilty to charges of computer fraud and conspiracy related to hacking and extorting over 165 organizations using the cloud service provider Snowflake. The U.S. Department of Justice reported that Moucka and his co-conspirators exploited stolen login credentials to access and steal data from Snowflake customers who did not use multi-factor authentication. The group targeted several high-profile companies, including TicketMaster and Neiman Marcus, and extorted them by threatening to release sensitive data. Moucka, known by aliases such as 'Judische' and 'Waifu', was involved in numerous data breaches and phishing attacks against U.S. companies. He was arrested in Canada on a U.S. warrant and faces multiple charges, including wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.
