Amtrak Suspends Seattle-Portland Service Due to Track Obstruction
Amtrak has suspended its train service between Seattle and Portland through Friday due to a track obstruction caused by a warehouse fire near Portland. The fire, which occurred on August 2, left a key section of the track unusable, prompting the suspension of regular train operations while crews assess and repair the damage. Although service was initially expected to resume today, the suspension has been extended. To accommodate passengers, Amtrak is providing alternate bus transportation for most scheduled trains, though some departures have been canceled due to limited bus availability. Affected customers are advised to review their updated travel plans and allow extra time for their journeys. Amtrak is offering flexible options for impacted customers, including rebooking at no additional charge or canceling for a full refund. Impacted travelers will receive direct notifications from Amtrak via SMS, email, and the Amtrak app, with updates on itinerary changes and replacement bus options.
