Bitterroot National Forest Implements Road Closures Due to North Fork Fire
The Bitterroot National Forest has announced several road and trail closures due to the North Fork Fire, which is burning at approximately 8,000 feet in the Bitterroot Mountains. The fire, located about 10 miles southwest of Hamilton, has grown to 105 acres and is currently at 0% containment. The closures include Lost Horse Road, Lick Creek Road, and Hayes Creek Road, aimed at ensuring public and firefighter safety amidst increased heavy equipment traffic. The challenging terrain and fire activity necessitate these measures as 85 personnel work to manage the fire.
