Flood Alerts Issued for Over 10 Million in Northeast U.S.
A storm system that previously caused tornadoes in the Midwest has moved into the northeastern United States, prompting flood alerts for over 10 million residents. The National Weather Service has issued flood watches across New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, with warnings in effect until Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon. Albany, New York, is under a flash flood warning as radar indicates 1 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with up to 2 more inches expected by Wednesday afternoon. Flash flood risks are particularly high in Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts, where excessive rainfall is forecast. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain could fall across New England, exacerbating conditions in areas already saturated from recent storms.
