Clarksville City Council Advances Senior Housing Project on Frosty Morn Property
The Clarksville City Council has approved the first reading of a resolution to develop affordable senior housing on the Frosty Morn property. The plan involves leasing the property to SOCAYR, a Kentucky nonprofit, to build approximately 65 income-restricted units for seniors aged 55 and older. This initiative aims to address the growing need for affordable housing for older adults. The project requires further zoning approval and the acquisition of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. The Frosty Morn site, previously a meatpacking factory, was acquired by the city in 2013 and has been considered for various community uses since its demolition in 2020.
