Htar Htet Htet, a former Miss Grand International contestant and well-known actor and businesswoman in Myanmar, has become a prominent figure in the resistance against the military junta. Following the February 1, 2021, coup, she quickly joined anti-coup protests in Yangon. As the military's crackdown intensified, leading to violence and threats against her due to her fame, Htar Htet Htet moved to border jungles to join resistance fighters. Her journey from a public figure to a freedom fighter, including posing with weapons in the jungle to raise awareness and funds, garnered international headlines. Her experiences are now the subject of a new film titled 'Ray,' which she describes as 95% accurate, aiming to maintain international attention on Myanmar's civil war and the suffering of its citizens. The film covers her initial shock and outrage at the coup, her participation in protests, the threats she received, her time with resistance fighters, and her eventual relocation to Australia.
