Author Jerry Falade Loses $2M Book Deal Amid AI Allegations, Claims Racial Motivation
Jerry Falade, a graduate student at Southern Methodist University, has lost a $2 million book deal with Minotaur, a Macmillan US imprint, and HarperCollins UK due to allegations of using artificial intelligence (AI) in writing his debut crime novel, 'Call Me, I’ll Hide the Body.' Falade denies these claims, asserting that the accusations are racially motivated. He maintains that AI was only used for research purposes, not for writing the book. The controversy arose after Falade's agent at Europa Content withdrew support for the book, citing concerns over AI usage. Falade has expressed his intention to continue with his writing career, despite the setback.
