FAA Proposes Directive for Boeing 737 MAX Seat Assembly Corrections
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a new airworthiness directive affecting 453 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. This directive follows a review of a Boeing bulletin indicating that passenger seat assemblies may have been incorrectly installed on seat tracks. The FAA warns that improperly installed seats could disengage during increased load situations, such as turbulence or emergency landings, posing a risk to passenger safety. The directive would require inspections and potential corrections, with costs estimated at $85 per seat assembly, totaling up to $2.65 million for U.S. operators.
