Study Suggests Human Lifespan Limit Due to DNA Mutations
A study by the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Russia suggests that human lifespan may be fundamentally limited by the accumulation of random DNA mutations. Even with perfect anti-aging medicine, these mutations would continue to accumulate, eventually impairing cellular function. The research indicates a potential lifespan limit of 150 to 190 years, which is double the current average but still finite. The study provides a framework for evaluating how biological processes contribute to aging, offering insights into which mechanisms could be targeted to slow aging.
