Northeast Grills Require Maintenance After Winter Storms
As the warmer weather approaches, many residents in the Northeast are preparing to use their grills for outdoor cooking. However, after enduring several harsh winter storms, these grills may require maintenance to ensure safety and functionality. According to Consumer Reports grill expert Paul Hope, maintaining a grill is crucial not only for aesthetics but also for safety and performance. Common issues such as failed ignitors, leaking gas lines, and clogged burners can be fixed, but if left unchecked, they pose significant risks. Hope advises checking the gas line for leaks by connecting the propane tank, opening the valve, and spraying the line with a mixture of water and dish soap. Bubbles indicate a leak, necessitating a replacement. Additionally, inspecting for insect webs is essential to prevent fires when lighting the grill.
