Bechtel Takes Over Management of Polish Nuclear Plant Site, Advancing Construction Plans
Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) has transferred the management of Poland's first nuclear power plant site to Bechtel, marking a significant step in the project's development. Bechtel will oversee the execution and supervision of site preparation activities, including earthworks and infrastructure development, at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in northern Poland. This transition signifies the project's move into a new phase, involving extensive groundwork and the construction of temporary facilities. Budimex SA, a major Polish construction company, has been selected as the main contractor for initial earthworks, which include ground leveling and drainage system expansion. The project aims to prepare the site for the construction of three AP1000 reactors, with the first unit expected to begin commercial operation in 2036.
