Children's Hospital Los Angeles Launches Halloween Card Drive with LA Kings Matching Donations
Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) has initiated its annual Halloween card drive, aiming to bring festive cheer to its young patients and raise funds. The LA Kings, long-standing supporters of CHLA, have committed to donating $1 for every card submitted by October 30, with a maximum contribution of $50,000. Participants can select from three animal designs—a giraffe, a peacock, or an elephant—to color and personalize with a message of encouragement. Carol Hamamoto, Director of Child Life and Expressive Arts and Therapies, and Volunteer Resources at CHLA, emphasized the significance of these cards in providing comfort, hope, and connection to children during their hospital stays. The hospital's Child Life team will print and hand-deliver the completed cards, along with goodie bags. CHLA will also host its yearly Pumpkin Party, featuring games, arts and crafts, and costumes for patients.
