Matthew McConaughey recently spoke to USA Today about his visit with the Pope and their conversation, which touched upon his political ambitions. The 'Dallas Buyers Club' star revealed that he and the Pope discussed his political aspirations, though he did not elaborate on the specific nature of these ambitions. McConaughey, 56, publicly considered a run for Texas governor in 2021 and advocated for stricter gun control measures following a school shooting in Uvalde a year later. During the television interview, he emphasized the importance of religious values in life and politics, stating, 'Life is a religious experience.' He expressed a desire for a 'common constitution' that aligns with shared values across religions, believing it would be a positive unifying force. McConaughey also mentioned that he did not specifically prepare for his meeting with the Pope.
