Strong Storm to Hit Los Angeles with Heavy Rain and Flooding
Southern California is bracing for a significant storm system expected to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds starting Sunday night. According to the National Weather Service's Oxnard office, the storm will intensify late Sunday through Monday, posing risks of debris flows in areas affected by recent fires. Meteorologist Carol Ciliderti warns that even brief periods of heavy rain could lead to such flows. The storm is forecasted to deliver 1 to 2 inches of rain in coastal and valley areas, with double that amount in mountainous regions. Snow levels are expected to remain above 6,000 feet, with potential accumulations at higher elevations. The storm is part of a Pineapple Express, an atmospheric river event, predicted to be the strongest in nearly two years.
