Santa Clara University Receives $25M Donation for New AI Center to Enhance Human Potential
Santa Clara University has announced the establishment of a new artificial intelligence center following a significant donation of nearly $25 million from Debora Shoquist, Nvidia's executive vice president for operations and a Santa Clara University alumna. The center, named the Cunningham Shoquist Center for Applied AI and Human Potential, aims to integrate AI tools across various departments, focusing on enhancing human potential rather than replacing it. The center will be housed at the Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation and will be part of the School of Engineering. It will support applied AI research in fields such as healthcare, medical imaging, and intelligent robotics, while also fostering collaboration between academia and industry in Silicon Valley.
