Exploring Mount Rainier's Trails: A Guide for Hikers
Mount Rainier National Park offers a diverse range of hiking trails suitable for all skill levels, from short family-friendly paths to mid-length day hikes. The park is divided into several trail areas, including Longmire, Paradise, Ohanapecosh, Sunrise, and Carbon River & Mowich. Additionally, a segment of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) runs along the park's eastern boundary, connecting Chinook Pass in the north to Laughingwater Creek in the south. While the PCT within the park lacks designated backcountry campsites, camping is available on adjacent U.S. Forest Service lands. Hikers are encouraged to consult the Pacific Crest Trail Association for permit requirements and additional information. Maps and detailed trail descriptions are available to help visitors plan their hikes.
