Air China to Launch First Direct Flights to Iceland, Expanding European Network
Air China is set to become the first Chinese airline to offer direct flights to Iceland, starting October 26, 2026. The new route will connect Beijing Capital with Reykjavik Keflavik Airport, operating three times a week via Copenhagen. This expansion is part of Air China's broader strategy to increase its presence in Europe, with new routes also being launched to Brussels, Frankfurt, Milan, Venice, Bucharest, and Zagreb. The airline's growth is facilitated by its continued access to Russian airspace, which European carriers currently avoid due to geopolitical tensions. The new Iceland service aims to tap into the growing interest among Chinese travelers in Nordic destinations.
