Estonia's Maritime Innovations Propel Cruise Industry's Green Transition
Estonia is actively contributing to the cruise industry's green transition by showcasing its advanced maritime solutions at Seatrade Cruise Global 2026. The country is leveraging a €25 million state-backed initiative to support retrofitting, port electrification, and digital systems across the maritime value chain. Estonia's approach includes the development of smart port capabilities, such as digital check-in and automated terminal operations, through the Port of Tallinn's Smart Port concept. Additionally, Estonia is establishing green shipping corridors in the Baltic Sea, like the FinEst Green Corridor between Tallinn and Helsinki. The country's efforts are supported by collaborations such as the Swed-Est Green Collaboration and the European Green Corridor Network. Estonian companies are also contributing with technologies ranging from marine engineering to shore power solutions.
