Anthropic's Project Glasswing Uncovers Over 10,000 Software Flaws in First Month
Anthropic's Project Glasswing, a month-old initiative, has identified more than 10,000 high- or critical-severity software vulnerabilities in systemically important code. This discovery highlights a shift in cybersecurity challenges from finding flaws to verifying and patching them. The project, which involves several partners, has significantly increased the rate of bug discovery, with some partners reporting a tenfold increase. Notably, Cloudflare identified 2,000 bugs, including 400 rated as high or critical. The initiative also helped prevent a fraudulent $1.5 million wire transfer at a partner bank. Despite these successes, the bottleneck remains in the human capacity to address these vulnerabilities.
