Endless Sea Café in Storm Lake: A Model for Workforce Development in Rural Iowa
In Storm Lake, Iowa, the Endless Sea Café, a student-run initiative, is playing a crucial role in workforce development by providing young community members with job training and mentorship. The café, part of The Bridge of Storm Lake, was established in 2021 as a response to the decline of social spaces in rural areas, which has contributed to social isolation and limited workforce opportunities. The café offers students hands-on experience in various roles, from customer service to inventory management, helping them gain confidence and skills for future employment.
