Moody's Upgrades Argentina, Aligning Top Three Rating Agencies for First Time in Decade
Moody's Ratings has upgraded Argentina's long-term sovereign credit rating to B3 from Caa1, with a positive outlook. This marks the third upgrade in three months, aligning Moody's with Fitch Ratings and S&P Global Ratings, which had previously upgraded Argentina's rating. The upgrade reflects Argentina's sustained fiscal surpluses, slowing inflation, and economic liberalization efforts under President Javier Milei. Moody's cited a stronger external position, robust export performance, and rising foreign direct investment as factors supporting the upgrade. The agency also noted political risks ahead of the 2027 general election but expressed confidence in policy continuity.
