U.S. Government's Daring Ebola Rescue Mission in Africa
In July 2014, two Americans, Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol, contracted Ebola while working in Liberia during the deadliest outbreak of the virus. The U.S. government faced the challenge of evacuating them safely without spreading the virus. Phoenix Air, a Georgia-based aviation company, was tasked with the mission using a specially designed Aeromedical Biological Containment System. Despite the risks, the mission was successful, and both patients were transported to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where they eventually recovered.
