Early Heat Wave Sweeps Across Northeast and Plains
An early heat wave is set to impact the Northeast and Plains regions of the United States this week, with temperatures expected to reach unseasonably high levels. According to the National Weather Service, the heat will intensify by Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures soaring into the 90s across the mid-Atlantic region. This weather pattern follows a recent heat wave in the western U.S., and now the eastern part of the country is experiencing similar conditions. Meteorologists predict that over 100 record-high temperatures could be broken, including some all-time April records. Cities such as St. Louis, Memphis, and Richmond are forecasted to experience highs of 90°F (32°C), 87°F (31°C), and 94°F (34°C) respectively. The heat wave is attributed to a high-pressure ridge trapping hot air over the region.
